About Me

When unincorporated Shoreline became a city in 1995, I was involved with some of the organization with being asked to take over the planning and organizing the First Shoreline City Council Inaugural Ceremony. As an Event Planner, I was thrilled to be asked. However, the man leading this committee resigned it left two other members of which a high school student being part as a high school project she needed to be an accredited therefore she was on the committee first and decided she would chair. In spite of the leadership that was evident, I was the actual leader who planned the event. She got the credit and her name on the Ceremony Program.

The important part was what took place was priceless to say the least. Without going through all the details, the ending saga was during the ceremony a Prayer for our City of Shoreline being founded on God. There was a fight along the path working on the committee that was won in order to honor God and His will towards the City of Shoreline. I was and am so thankful for being part of the Foundation of Shoreline somewhat I feel like I think the Founding Fathers felt way back when America was founded, such an honor!

There are times when there is a battle that must be addressed in order to fulfill what needs to be done. I will choose my battles.

I have many stories and memories of being involved with individual as well as organizations of whom I have influenced very much by being a part to execute the process to implement a successful event.

My passion and love for creating an atmosphere and the planning of events for decades has been a fulfillment in my life. I love to bring people together as well as assisting many in organizing their lives, homes, businesses, organizations; the list goes on and on. I have many stories and memories that will last for me that I share with those who are interested in order to encourage them to be all that they want to be.

I was born in the Swedish Hospital in Seattle Washington; being a born and bred Washingtonian. I understand how our community works and thrives. My dad, a Swedish legal Immigrant, my mom’s mom a Norwegian legal Immigrant I relish the idea of people coming from other countries as it was when the bold and brave people came here to find the country as well and later settlers paid heavy prices to find a land of the free! The freedom to worship God the Creator!

I am married to my husband, Charlie. We will celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary this December. We have one son, Joshua and three granddaughters; Eliana, Hazel, and Lucy I love being a mom and grandma!

Pictures of my life:

My husband is a Vietnam Veteran.  These are some pictures of our Welcoming him home taken around 1989; part of the process of his healing.

These pictures are of the Crista Schools (King’s Garden) when I was Vice President of the Mother’s Guild at the Live Auction presenting the Auction items; around 1983.

Some Poems I wrote:

I wrote this poem to give to people we saw asking for money along the road downtown Seattle

and near Seattle Center area. We enclosed a letter including essentials packed in a decorative

bag.

–“I HAVE THE FREEDOM”

by Jackie Huey, May 5,1997

         I see the flag

         I see the stars

         I have the freedom

         I’m not behind bars

.

         I see the world

         I see this land

         I have the freedom

         I take my stand

.

         I see this country

         I see this state

         I have the freedom

         I can debate

.

         I see this county

         I see this district

         I have the freedom

         I am not mystic

.

         I see my precinct

         I live on my block

         I have the freedom

         I am a rock

.

         I see the people

         I see their race

         I have the freedom

         I have the grace
